Traditional Kenyan Food

We went to lunch in Kijabe with our orientation group this week. We ate at Mama Chiku's. It was an incredible meal, served family style: ugali (similar to grits), meat stew, rice, peas & carrots, sakuma wiki (similar to collards), potatoes, and chapati (flat bread). It was an incredible meal. Abby devoured most of it, and Andrew stuck to the chapati. We're also enjoying the variety of fruits that are readily available here (a few varieties of bananas, mangoes, pineapple, paw paw, papaya, custard apple, etc.). And I can't forget the morning and afternoon chai break (tea, milk, sugar). Yum!

  1. So glad to hear the updates from you all. You now have me sorely missing East Africa with its food, sights, sounds, feels, trees, animals, and people. Please drink an extra cup of chai for me sometime! We're praying for you all. Love, Beth for the Yoders
