Learning Swahili (by Abby and Melissa)

We are all learning swahili, but Abby has probably learned the most since she has swahili lessons at school twice/week.

Here are some words and phrases that we have learned and are using quite a bit:

hello: jambo

goodbye: kwaheri

welcome: karibu

how are you?: habari?

i am well: mzuri

thank you: asante

thank you very much: asante sana

jesus: yesu

jump: ruka

clap: pikamakofi

motorbike: piki

trash: taka taka

lion: simba

giraffe: twiga

leopard: chui

one: moja

two: mbili

three: tatu

four: nne

five: tano

six: sita

seven: saba

eight: nane

nine: tisa

ten: kumi
